The Fam!

Hello! My name is Dayna Swearengin and I am a second grade teacher who absolutely loves teaching! After graduating from college in 2011, I was filled with anticipation and couldn’t wait to have my own classroom and kiddos! When I was hired the day before school started for a kindergarten position, I was thrilled, but also a nervous wreck, as you can imagine! Needless to say, I set up an entire classroom in a day (thanks to the help of wonderful friends and family), spent all night writing lesson plans for the first day of school, and basically spent the year flying by the seat of my pants! It was a tiring, but very rewarding year, and by the end, my students and I became a close-knit little family.

There was no time to settle into kindergarten though. I loved my little babies, but I was ready to tackle an intermediate grade, and moved on up to third! And this year, when I was given the opportunity to move to second, I jumped at the chance! I know what you’re thinking…3 different grades in 3 years!!!  She is crazy!!  But, I had always pictured myself teaching second grade and wanted to take the position while it was open. So, here I am. Loving every minute and always searching for new, exciting ways to reach my kiddos!!
